Halo: Combat Evolved is the first game in a series that spawned numerous sequels thanks to its success and prestige, high-quality gameplay, and captivating plot. Set in a distant alternate future, where humanity has mastered space and advanced its scientific knowledge, this project is a first-person shooter with four difficulty levels.
Gameplay is based on tactics and strategies chosen by the player. Due to the enemy's numerical and firepower inferiority, the main protagonist, Master Chief John-117, must use his wits to defeat the artificial intelligence. He can only use two primary weapons and a few grenades: shrapnel and plasma. Earth weapons are weak against aliens, and alien bodies are excellent for this purpose, but conventional armor is even worse. The single-player campaign focuses on humanity's struggle against an alien alliance called the Covenant, which seeks to enslave human civilization. The last hope for Earth's inhabitants is Project Spartan II, an experiment to create a super soldier, including John-117. In addition to his technological makeup, the Master Chief also possesses biological enhancements that affect nearly all of his systems.
