Dead Block is a third-person action zombie-themed video game developed by Candygun Games and published by Digital Reality in 2011 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The game combines action and tower defense elements, set in a humorous world, where the player must fight off hordes of zombies and prevent them from entering. The player takes on the role of a survivor of a zombie apocalypse and is tasked with defending their home from waves of undead attackers. The game's story is told through a series of comedic cutscenes and in-game dialogue. The player character is a lovable sloth who must team up with his neighbors to survive a zombie outbreak.
As the game progresses, the player must face hordes of zombies, as well as other survivors who have gone rogue. You take on the role of one of three survivors of a zombie apocalypse in the United States in the 1950s, and in ten levels of the single-player campaign you must destroy furniture to collect wood and search through small objects to collect parts and other items. With wooden blocks, you can build windows and doors to prevent zombies from entering your safe haven, in the tradition of tower defense games. You can also use the parts you find to build various traps. In some stages, you also play the roles of more than one survivor and can switch between them. Each survivor also has a set of up to three special traps, upgradeable melee weapons, and a smart bomb.
