Adobe Premiere Pro 2018 is a video editing and production software developed by Adobe and part of Adobe Creative Suite. It can be purchased separately and comes bundled with Adobe Encore, Adobe OnLocation, and Media Encoder. The software uses non-linear video editing, allowing you to easily access and edit any part of a video. Editing operations include cutting and pasting video and audio, adding transitions between video clips and effects to the video and audio clips themselves, as well as compositing clips, sounds, and titles. These clips (video or audio) and other effects are managed through the timeline. Many plugins can also be added to it to support color and motion filters. Adobe Premiere Pro is a redesign of its predecessor, Adobe Premiere; the Pro version was released in 2003. The software is now used by many television stations and has been used in numerous films. The first version of the program, called Adobe Premiere for Macintosh computers, appeared in December 1991.
As of 2003, the name was changed to Premiere Pro, in which the program was redesigned and developed. Therefore, the name Premiere refers to all versions before 2003. Premiere was one of the first non-linear editing programs (NLEs), meaning that it was not restricted to the file path and the need to sequence it, but rather it was possible to easily process any part of it without order. From the first version until Premiere Pro 2.0 (CS2), the packaging label and logo contained a galloping horse, a reference to the work of the scientist Edward Muybridge (Sallie Gardner at a Gallop), which is a section of successive images of a galloping horse in 1878. Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018 VR Editing:
Another significant area of improvement is the creation of 360-degree VR content, which Adobe labels immersive video. Premiere Pro CC received some support for 360 content with version 2015.3 in mid-2016. But for CC 2018, this has been significantly enhanced, with a selection of 360-aware effects and transitions stemming from Adobe's acquisition of the Mettle SkyBox Suite (unfortunately, Adobe did not include the latter's 360 stitching tools in Premiere Pro).
While you can already apply 2D effects, they introduce unwanted artifacts along stitching lines. The new effects are smooth, and include blur, chromatic aberrations, color grading, noise removal, digital glitch, pattern noise, flare, plane-to-sphere, projection, sphere rotation, and sharpening.
Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018: Additional Features:
There are a few other important new features. The Essential Graphics panel, introduced with Premiere Pro CC 2017 to replace the old Title, has been improved with the addition of responsive design. The Timeline element allows you to pin a set of intro and outro keyframes at the beginning and end of an animation clip, which are preserved across subsequent edits.
This also includes the rolling credits feature. The Position element allows you to anchor a graphics layer to another layer or to the same video frame. The graphics layer will then respond to changes in the anchored layer or video frame, so when it's added to a sequence with a different aspect ratio, it will maintain its relative position.
The Plane to Sphere effect is particularly useful; without it, when you import a 2D image, it will automatically appear curved. Apply VR Plane to Sphere, and the image will instead appear like a 2D banner within a 360-degree space, with tools to adjust its distance and orientation. Even better, all of these effects are GPU-accelerated, so they gain a performance advantage from your graphics hardware.
The VR Rotate Sphere effect allows you to correct orientation issues with the 3D sphere, and you can add keyframes to animate the virtual view orientation within the 360-degree space. The VR Projection tool is also useful because it makes it easy to use footage shot on different 360-degree cameras in the same timeline. For example, we imported footage shot on the Ricoh Theta S camera alongside the output from a Garmin VIRB 360, and the VR Projection filter perfectly stretched the Ricoh footage to match the Garmin.
The remaining effects are essentially 360-degree versions of their 2D counterparts. Immersive transitions include Chroma Leaks, Gradient Wipe, Iris Wipe, Light Leaks, Light Rays, Mobius Zoom, Random Blocks, and Spherical Blur.
All eight use 360-degree space in an interesting way to navigate between clips, a welcome addition since most 2D transitions introduce unwanted visual artifacts. Premiere Pro itself now also works in VR, so you can edit while wearing a VR viewer like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.
