Medal of Honor: Airborne is a first-person shooter developed by EA Los Angeles and released for mobile phones, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox 360 in 2007. It is the eleventh installment in the Medal of Honor series and uses a modified version of the Unreal Engine 3. In single-player mode, players take on the role of an American paratrooper in the 82nd United States Airborne Division who is exposed to the air. However, in multiplayer mode, players can choose to fight as Allied soldiers or appear as Axis soldiers on the ground.
In previous games in the series, the game used a linear style, with a starting point and direction specified in the single-player mode, but unlike these, Airborne uses a more nonlinear gameplay style in both single-player and multiplayer modes, with players starting the game themselves and completing each mission in order in each role they play. The game received more favorable reviews for the PC and PlayStation 3 versions than for the Xbox 360 version. While versions for the PlayStation 2, Wii, and Xbox were planned, these versions were later canceled.
